After many years working in the voluntary sector, changes in my personal circumstances meant that I had to make the difficult decision to set up private practice and go it alone. I am committed to making Bristol Therapy Service somewhere people can access high-quality therapy without endless waiting lists. I am passionate about making therapy accessible to all. Offering online, telephone and face-to-face sessions. I am flexible in my approach to suit the needs of the individual, rather than adopting a one size fits all approach. Whenever possible I offer lower cost therapy to people who are committed to therapy but finding it hard to meet the on-going cost.
I am also an experienced Clinical Supervisor. I believe that regular supervision of therapists, and reflective practice for practitioners working in a helping role, is fundamental in offering a source of support, knowledge, and sustainability in our practice. Developing respectful relationships, practitioner self-awareness, and monitoring and managing safety, also means that people have better experiences of support.
I offer a reduced rate for regular supervision of practitioners working for community or charitable organisations.
About Leanne
Through personal experience I know what it is like to feel overwhelmed and caught up in unhelpful patterns of behaviour. Therapy helped me to understand how past events were affecting the way that I was operating in my life. I learnt how to have healthier relationships and let go of behaviours and beliefs that held me back from becoming the person that I wanted to be. It helped me to find some love and acceptance of myself, to value what I bring to the world, and to live a much more fulfilling life. My own experience of therapy was life-changing and it is what inspired me to train as a therapist.
I am Fully Accredited by the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and the BABCP (British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies). I have met their strict criteria in training, experience, and continued professional development for accreditation. I hold an enhanced DBS which means that I meet the legal requirements to work with vulnerable children and adults.
Since 2007, I have worked as a psychotherapist with young people and adults across Bristol and South Gloucestershire. I have experience of working within the field of addictions and supporting people from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds. In 2010, I joined Off The Record (OTR) a well established charity working with young people in Bristol. I went on to oversee OTR therapeutic services until 2018 when I started my private practice.
Having regular supervision means that I am also accountable to another person in my therapeutic practice. It helps me to have access to different perspectives, knowledge, and information that can support me and my clients. It helps generate new ideas for therapy if we are feeling stuck. I am also an experienced and qualified supervisor. I provide supervision for mental health practitioners and psychotherapists working within Bristol based organisations, trainees, and therapists in private practice.
