Leanne Thomas: Offering Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBT), Counselling, and Clinical Supervision online and face to face in Bristol UK.

Bristol Therapy Service is located on North Street in Southville Bristol BS3. Online/telephone and face-to-face appointments are available. My name is Leanne Thomas. I offer Integrative Counselling and  Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBT) for adults and young people (age 14 +). I also provide one to one and group Clinical supervision for therapists and mental health practitioners.

People enter into Talking Therapies for many different reasons. You may be struggling to meet life’s demands, have difficulties within your relationships, or in other areas of life. Ultimately, we all have times in our lives when we feel overwhelmed. I have extensive training and experience in working with a wide range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, trauma, bereavement, addiction and many other problems which can affect us.  I have worked with people of all ages, offering both short-term and longer-term one to one therapy. Here is an overview of what I offer:

Integrative Counselling is a way of exploring different perspectives and getting to know ourselves better. What really makes us feel or act the way we do? Have past experiences shaped how we are in our relationships, how we have come to view life or ourselves? We can’t always change people or situations but we can learn to understand, and even change, our responses to them. Difficult life experiences can be hard to navigate on our own. The way we see ourselves, our situation, or the future, may make it harder to feel good, enjoy life, or to see any way through.

I offer a safe space to work out what, if anything, needs to change so that you can feel happier and make the most of life.

If anxiety or low mood is making it hard for you, or your child, to enjoy or participate in day to day life, then CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) could be really helpful. This evidence-based approach is nationally recommended for people experiencing: Depression, Social Anxiety, Separation anxiety, Panic, PTSD, Health Anxiety, OCD, Phobias, and Generalised Anxiety (excessive worry). It will help develop an understanding of what might be maintaining your difficulties and offers practical tools to help.

If you would like to make some changes, or just need someone to be alongside you at a difficult time in your life, contact me to arrange an initial consultation. If you have any questions please contact me.

Testimonials

Therapy with Leanne is the best thing I’ve ever done for myself & my mental health.
I began after an event that sparked a series of persistent panic attacks left me unable to function normally in my daily life.
Attending my first session was proved difficult as being anywhere inside, other than my home, induced panic. Leanne immediately made me feel welcome & that I was in safe hands.
I’m so grateful for, not only the tools I have been given to deal with my panic & anxiety but the way in which they were given – At a pace that suited me & with support to help me understand what I was doing & why. These are tools I will continue to refer to for the rest of my life, if & when I need them.
I am the happiest & the healthiest I have been (probably ever) which is incredible as I started my therapy in a very, very dark place & I credit the majority of this to my sessions with Leanne, I honestly cannot thank her enough!!

I approached Leanne to help me with anxiety which I was experiencing with increasing frequency. I was completely new to psychotherapy and CBT when I started working with Leanne, so she applied a very patient and methodological approach to explore the recent and historic causes of my anxiety and help me understand and manage them more effectively. Over a number of weeks I experienced a noticeable improvement in my mental health and learned a number of valuable tools and methods to better manage anxiety in the future.”

Leanne’s sessions really helped me tackle anxiety. She made me feel comfortable and the sessions were helpful, with practical steps for me to take and build upon. They changed my life!”

”I began seeing Leanne after my health anxiety started taking over my life during the pandemic. I was very concerned about getting ill and spreading the virus to my family. I started taking the ‘stay at home’ rule extremely seriously and became obsessed with cleaning everything so that I had no chance of being infected. Leanne helped me work on all of this step by step. I learnt to understand why I was feeling like I was and gradually started to get back to life as the guidelines were allowing. Now I’m back at work and socialising with my friends and I couldn’t be more thankful for Leanne’s support. Her kindness, knowledge and encouragement got me through a difficult time. I’ve learnt how important it is to talk. Thank you Leanne!

My sessions with Leanne were the push I needed to come back to the rhythm of life having being stuck in a depression, during the second and third Lockdown. I feel very lucky that I bumped into her contact because she’s awesome.
Her way of conducting the sessions is amazing because you always feel like she gets you, she’s got a great sense of humour which helps a lot. I’d never felt judged. I felt really calm like talking to a friend. However, her insights it’s nothing like I had the chance to hear before and after every session I’d feel relieved. Her observations were really helpful for me to realise some bad behaviours I’ve been carrying unconsciously until the day of today and also to nurture the parts of me that I’ve been neglecting
“I had CBT with Leanne during my time at university. She is so welcoming and friendly and helped me to learn about myself and feel better at my own pace. It was a very relaxed environment, and I truly felt like I was talking to a friend throughout my CBT. I cannot thank Leanne enough for helping me and I would recommend her to anyone.
